After you read the following excerpt from my life, you will realize that this happened quite some time ago. The first clue is that the weather was warm enough for me to be sweaty when out riding. I believe I drafted this post back in late September. He was the last of the very cool online dating site guys that I will be rejected by. I’ve given up online dating forever. (Okay, wait. I lied. One night about five weeks ago, I had too much to drink and I put up a profile at ChristianMingle.com. But I’ve never gone back and I delete all the notices about all the amazing people they haven’t matched me with.) Read the rest of this entry
There are moments when I check out Freshly Pressed on WordPress. Granted, this doesn’t happen often, but when I am able to do it, I nearly always find something new to marvel in. When lucky, I find a few blogs that I can lose myself in. The next thing I know, four hours have disappeared, never to be regained. My advice: visit Freshly Pressed with caution.
My first treat today was Freshly Pressed on Monday, April 30. The title of the post, Walked the Walk and the picture that accompanied it caught my eye and I bit. When I arrived at Calliope’s Tablet, I was pleasantly surprised. First, she’s talking about walking around a city I am familiar with. Next, I just found her blog and it’s content to be a delight. She writes about writing and creativity. I can’t get enough of that. Hope you’ll check it out.
The other treat, another creative blog type, I found because the post that was Freshly Pressed was all about bike touring, something I am contemplating starting up as my kids get older and leave home. Actually, my son is pushing me to do this with him. He loves camping, we both love cycling and he agreed to deal with setting up the tents and taking them down. That’s all it took. I’m all in. Now all we have to do is acquire some gear. While I’m saving up pennies to do that, I’m going to check out LizardArtworks and read her post about Biking From Monterey to SLO, so I can be prepared when the time comes.
I hope you’ll go visit these two fun finds.
It is now officially April 25, but for me it is really still the 24th. I mean, if this is a blog that is supposed to be written when I should be sleeping, that doesn’t give me much time. After all, what single mom do you know gets to bed a minute before ten? Most nights, like tonight, I’m up doing laundry for some kid that told me they suddenly needed something for tomorrow. Never mind that we have laundry baskets in every room and the procedure is to bring your laundry to the laundry room, which is maybe five steps away. If I’m doing laundry, I’m matching socks, or putting away this or that which got left here or there. All that Momwork, leaves me two hours for writing. Tapping a post out on an iPhone takes a heck of a lot more than two hours.
So tonight’s post is my April 24, post in order to fulfill my requirements for NaPoBloMo challenge to write a post a day for the entire month of April and by, golly gosheroo, I’m going to do it.
It’s going to be quick, because instead of staying up late due to insomnia, I’m actually up late making sure I check off the last two of three very important and time consuming stress creators on my To Do list. I’m pleased to announce that this is one of those rare days in any life where one accomplishes all of the very most important tasks. Here is my To Do List for today, April 24:
1. Pay medical bills with FSA account. When The FSA account runs out, set up payment arrangements. Check.
2. Complete the child support inquiry forms my Evil Ex initiated. Gather and copy all documents. Write cover letter. This took most of the afternoon. It is ready to go in the mail. Check!
3. Write the ole “pay your rent or get out letter. This took less time than the other but. Check.
4. Go to radiation treatment. Check.
5. And now it is time for sleep. I’m going enjoy it! A few minutes after posting this, I’ll be working/nodding off.
Stress gone, for the win.
I really like http://www.plinky.com/. It’s a great place to go to find inspirational ideas for journals, blog posts, what have you.
Except tonight it didn’t work. I found many great prompts, but not which I had the mental energy to actually develop. Tonight I am tired. Bone weary tired. Work is demanding. My closet organizer shelves fell out of the wall again for the second time. It’s just be a long, difficult emotionally taxing day.
This could be good. I might get some sleep. It could also be an indicator of a more serious health problem.
I just can’t even worry about that now. I need to sleep.
It’s April and over at Blogher, there is a challenge to blog every day during the month of April. This month’s emphasis is poetry, because it is National Poetry Month. Right. I suck at writing poetry. the every day for the month thing is also going to be a challenge because, for me, on this blog that means writing when I should be sleeping. Like the complete idiot and blog addict that I am, I jumped on this bandwagon. Let’s see how long it is before I completely meltdown due to lack of sleep then lose my day job. This ought to be tons of fun.
Like I said I suck at poetry, but I’m going to venture out there anyway with the lazy (or uninspired? or untalented? or tired?) kid’s poem; the acrostic. Yes, just as creatively, I’m using the word April.
April is a month of
Rain, beauty, and
Luring me toward summer.
Like I said, lazy, uninspired, clearly lacking in talent…but tonight’s post is done!
I challenge you to better this attempt. It really shouldn’t be that tough and should take two seconds. Post a comment here with your own April acrostic or post it on your blog and link back to me. Either way, I’ll know I’m not talking to myself or it will become dreadfully apparent that I am. if you link back to me or if you comment I’ll follow you home and check out your blog too.
Happy NaBloPoMo April.
Oh, and for the record, I hate April Fool’s. Years of being way too gullible have traumatized me for.ev.er.
